What your sandwich says about you.

I read about this study, and I knew I had to share it. The study was done in 2009 by The Smell & Taste Treatment and Research Foundation and was commissioned by the Hellmann's and Best Foods Mayonnaise.
It makes sense that Hellmann’s would commission such a thing since Americans love sandwiches. it is estimated that nearly 40 billion sandwiches are consumed in the U.S. every year (approximately 131 sandwiches per person). That is a lot of possible mayo consumption going on there. The Smell & Taste Treatment and Research Foundation in Chicago did a study that correlated the personalities of 2,747 people with their sandwich preference between 3/1/09 and 5/31/09.
"We looked at sandwiches much like you look at the Rorschach tests ... the ink blots that look like a butterfly or a bat depending on how you interpret it," said the study's author, Dr. Alan Hirsch. "We basically did the same thing with sandwiches."

The best words to describe those who prefer the ham and cheese sandwich: thoughtful and inquisitive. Ham and cheese sandwich lovers are often independent without strong romantic ties. (Ham and Cheese sandwiches are also the most common in the US).Turkey:
Those who prefer the turkey sandwich are free-thinkers. They function best when given space at work and in relationships. The best words to describe those who prefer the turkey sandwich: creative and rebellious. Turkey sandwich lovers are often attracted to other turkey sandwich lovers.Tuna Salad:

BLT lovers are conscientious perfectionists. They are devoted in all areas of their lives: work, home and relationships. The best words to describe those who prefer the BLT sandwich: honest and full of integrity. BLT sandwich lovers are most compatible with those who prefer seafood salad sandwich. (The BLT is the 2nd most popular sandwich in the US) I love and would eat all these types of sandwiches. I am probably more of a Club sandwich type of person since I like ham, turkey and roast beef. I sometimes like to mix it up and very rarely make myself just a ham and cheese or have a BLT. It would have been great to see what the study would show for those that prefer a PB&J or Grilled Cheese but then again Hellmann’s wouldn’t care too much for non-possible mayo based sandwiches. The next time you see a good looking person ordering a sandwich- listen to what they order- you might just know something about them by what they are eating. During my research I found out that Warburtons, the breadmaker from the UK, also did a personality study in 2011 where researchers investigated the favourite sandwich fillings of 2,000 Brits and identified eight "key sandwich personalities".Grilled Cheese (with a pickle on the side):
Those who go for the classic cheese and pickle are logical planners who like to surround themselves with successful people. They tend to be good at tasks and will always tell the truth no matter how tactless it may seem. They love solving things and are a fan of games and puzzles. The study also showed: People who chomped on cheese and pickle sandwiches were more likely to have a high IQ. I guess In Grilled Cheese you should Trust! But did you know that your choice of sandwich can say a lot about your personality?
Let's start with the classic BLT. This sandwich is simple, yet satisfying. People who choose the BLT are often practical and down-to-earth. They appreciate the straightforwardness of the sandwich and don't need anything too fancy to be happy. They are reliable and dependable, just like the bacon, lettuce, and tomato combo.
On the other hand, those who opt for a loaded club sandwich may be seen as ambitious and outgoing. The layers of turkey, bacon, lettuce, and tomato stacked between slices of bread can be a bit overwhelming, much like the personalities of those who choose it. They enjoy being the center of attention and thrive in social settings.
The vegetarian sandwich lover is often seen as health-conscious and environmentally friendly. They have a strong sense of self and are not afraid to stand out from the crowd. Their choice of sandwich reflects their values and beliefs.
The classic peanut butter and jelly sandwich is the perfect choice for the nostalgia seeker. It's a sandwich that takes them back to their childhood and reminds them of simpler times. They are often sentimental and appreciate the small things in life.
So, the next time you take a bite out of your sandwich, think about what it says about you. And remember, no matter what sandwich you choose, it's always a good choice as long as it makes you happy.
