If you live in the South you know that College Football is King!
This week College Football begins and I can’t be more excited for this season. My family and I are die hard UCF Knight fans but we also love watching all college football. Nothing is better than tailgating at your home field and watching the games live or even in your living room. The great thing about college football is the different offenses, the upsets, the rivalry, the passion people have for their teams. It’s SO GOOD!
I am most excited that my team is going into to a new conference, The American Athletic Conference. It’s nice to know that they are going into a new conference with what many consider to be one of the best quarterbacks in the state of Florida.
Blake Bortles is a 6-5, 235lb junior QB who can throw and will run you over if you get in his way. He is already getting national attention this preseason. Already being nominated for a few QB awards that honor the best Quarterbacks in the country (Manning and Davey O’Brien Award) he is also listed as a candidate for the Maxwell Award, which goes to the top collegiate player in the country.
Knight fans have started tweeting the hashtag #BORTLEKOMBAT when Blake makes things happen. I expect to see a lot of #BORTLEKOMBAT this season.
In his 1st year starting Bortles passed for 3,059 yards and 25 touchdowns and ran for 285 yds and 8 touchdowns last season. He led the UCF Knights to 10 wins and a Bowl Victory.
I am glad he is getting the attention he has earned, but what I love most about Blake is that he is a hometown boy! He attended Oviedo High School, a local high school in Central Florida. He was recruited by other larger football schools but in the end chose the Hometown team! He knows he is one of the many pieces that make the team go. He leads by example and he will do whatever it takes to help my Knights win!
Regardless of whom you cheer for its hard not to cheer for a player like that. The NCAA football season kicks off on Thursday, August 29th.
Side item #1:
Check out Blake in the Beef O’Brady’s Bowl game last season 2012.
My favorite play of that game:

As I had expected this season Blake Bortles has lead the UCF Knights to a 11-1 record and was named the American Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the year. Enjoy his season long highlights. He will take the the Knights to Arizona to have the opportunity to play the Baylor Bears in the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl.Featured photo by Mark LoMoglio/Icon SMI

Was very exciting to see Blake Bortles get drafted #3 in the 2014 NFL Draft. He was drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars and I am excited to see him progress as a QB at the next level of the NFL! Congrats Blake. Maybe being featured on What’s your favorite sandwich? bring people good fortune!
