I was not one to listen to NPR, but during certain months of the year I got tired of listening to the same music or the fact we were in a sports hiatus (that time when there is no football, basketball, or playoff baseball to enjoy). I found myself looking to listen to something on my way home. I had coworkers that listened to NPR and so I decided to give it a try. I came across a show on my way from a late day at work called Marketplace and it was hosted by Kai Ryssdal.
Kai Ryssdal is the Host and Senior Editor of Marketplace.
I am not one to listen to economic & financial news but I enjoy the various topics that Marketplace presents. I enjoyed the show because Kai speaks with everyone from Fortune 500 CEO’s to small business owners and everyday people. I love the way he conducts his interviews and gets to the heart of the matter.
He makes it accessible for general audiences. “I’m not a business guy,” Ryssdal told Emory Magazine in a 2004 interview. “That’s what lets us speak English about the news. My rule is, if I can’t understand it, then neither can the guy driving down the freeway.”
The show provides a focus on the latest business news both nationally and internationally, the global economy, and wider events linked to the financial markets.
I am also a fan of the music they use in between segments. I guess others do too cause they have a link of the music used each episode. Check them out HERE
