As a kid growing up in the 80’s I got to experience some really great cartoons. Some of my favorites that I loved to watch were: GI Joe, Transformers, Mask, Spiderman and his Amazing Friends, COPS, Duck Tales, Inspector Gadget, Thunder Cats, Voltron, He-Man, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and so many more.
I watched them on TV and had played with their action figures. It was a great time to be a kid with all the shows. You appreciate them more now when you see the cartoons that are out today. There is a reason the 80’s cartoons and shows have slowly been rebooted as new cartoons or live action movies.
Probably one of my favorite was GI Joe (YO JOE!!!!) That show was great with all the different characters. Good vs. Evil. Joe’s vs. Cobra. Funny part is they had guns and explosions in it but no one ever seem to get shot or killed by the laser fire just blue and red lasers flying across the screen.
I had read on Seibei’s blog about doing quick t-shirt brainstorming sessions: 50 Tees Challenge. So I decided to sit down and give it a try. On my 1st round of brainstorming is where this shirt idea came. The slogan alone tied it all together.
I actually mocked it up on PowerPoint (hi-tech right?) and knew it needed to be made into a shirt.
Lain Lee III is a huge hoagie fan and I knew he’d appreciate this idea and of course I knew he would add his art super powers to the design. Lain actually did some GI Joe prints recently of Cobra Commander and Duke. I could have waited for my next big series release in September but I wanted to wear this shirt now and share my Hoagie with everyone.
Hoagie is now available at the virtual deli shop.
