Her favorite sandwich is the Panini with Chocolate and Brie. (Smart social media move Giada sending us to your site).
Giada is one of my all-time favorite chefs. I also think she is the person that inspired the word “FoodPorn”! If you have ever watched an episode of Everyday Italian you will notice that the show has a cinematic feel. When they film it, all of the cooking on the show is shot live on set during an initial run and later the close up shots are filmed during a second run and then edited & music is added.
Between the editing, Giada’s welcoming smile, and the delicious food she is cooking up it is not hard to see why she has become so popular. Giada is everywhere these days from her own line of kitchenware at Target, The Today Show, Clairol hair products & Food Network, she has certainly made a name for herself.
Giada’s newest show “Giada at Home” is actually not her home, but the set is a replica of the kitchen in her home in Malibu; everything from the ocean view to the countertops is just like it would be in her home. “I felt that if we could recreate my house, we would have more stability.”
Giada did not start out as a chef. She actually got her degree in anthropology from UCLA. But she decided she wanted to pursue her passion of food. She went off to Paris & studied at Le Cordon Bleu in Paris. She returned back to Los Angeles and worked as a professional chef and as a food stylist. That is where she was approached by Food Network after some work she did for a magazine.
Since 2003 she has been on our TVs and has become a winner of a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lifestyle Host, and in 2012 was inducted into the Culinary Hall of Fame.
It is all about following your passion & doing what you love. You never know where an opportunity will come and Giada has taken advantage of these opportunities. My favorite quote from Giada is: “Food brings people together on many different levels. It’s nourishment of the soul and body; it’s truly love.”
It took me over a year of tweeting to Giada to get her to respond to me. In life you have to stay persistent with things you want.
About the Sandwich:
Panini with chocolate and brie.
Giada says “I could eat this sandwich every day for the rest of my life and be a very happy camper. The heat of the panini press melts the chocolate and brie together, and the salty-sweet-gooey goodness that results is my idea of heaven. Sometimes I make these for a cocktail party, cutting each sandwich into 4 small squares, and it’s always a conversation starter.”
