Chicago: Sandwich Tour

Written by Biggie on July 30, 2013

In life you must take advantage of opportunities that present themselves to you.  I have an amazing opportunity to head to Chicago on Tuesday, for just the day.

I am flying with my buddy Adam who knows Chicago like the back of his hand!   We are taking the first flight out in the morning, and the last flight back to Orlando from Chicago.

I plan to make the trip a Sandwich Tour of Chicago.  So no pizza, only sandwiches for me all day.  My dream scenario was I’d eat a sandwich with Jeff Mauro, Food Network’s Sandwich King, but he will be in NYC for the next few days.  He was nice enough to share with me some of his favorite sandwich shops which I hope to eat at.

Here are some of the places the Sandwich King recommended:

 Johnnies Beef

7500 W North Ave

Elmwood Park, IL 60707

Fumare Meats & Deli

131 N Clinton St

Chicago, IL 60661

Gene and Jude’s Red Hot Stand

2720 River Rd

River Grove, IL 60171

JP Graziano Grocery Co.

901 W Randolph St

Chicago, IL 60607

449 N Clark St

Chicago, IL 60654

Little Goat

820 W Randolph St

Chicago, IL 60607

I don’t think I will have enough time or space to eat at every location but I do plan plan on pacing myself since I have much of the city to enjoy.  I

also plan to visit Cheesie’s Pub and Grub.  I have been interacting with them on twitter for a bit and I am interested to see their grilled cheese murals.  I have to make space for their famous grilled cheese with assorted dipping soup/sauces.

I expect to spread the sandwich word and about DeliFreshThreads around the Windy city tomorrow.  I may even go check out a Cubs game.  I can’t eat sandwiches all day.

Come back later this week to read all about my sandwich eating adventure in Chicago.

You can also visit my instagram and follow me on twitter so you can follow me bite by bite.

If you have suggestions of what I should order at these restaurants please let me know.
