After taking July off, we are back for another #SandwichEatUp in August. On Thursday, August 31st, from 6-8pm we are headed back to HOT KRUST which is known for their delicious panini sandwiches. Orlando Weekly just named them one of top 20 most underrated Orlando restaurants that always get overlooked.
We have had a few #SandwichEatUp’s at Hot Krust before however they have a new owner, Khabeer Mustapha. He is continuing to offer the great panini sandwiches Hot Krust is know for, but he has added a few sweet things to the menu- HK Gelato Paninis!
Khabeer bought Hot Krust from Evan with the idea of taking Hot Krust to the next level. Since taking over the Gourmet Panini Kitchen he has kept making the loved paninis along with adding a few new panini sandwiches. A few new menu items are the “The Curry” – roasted chicken, homemade curry mustard sauce, mango chutney roasted almonds, red onions, Monterey jack cheese; or the Jerk Lamb Panini that is a slow roasted lamb, house made jerk sauce, Caribbean curry sauce, pineapples, jalapeños, spinach, red onions, Monterey Jack (available as chicken, turkey or steak).
I went to visit Hot Krust and meet Khabeer and as I enjoyed a Meat Lovers Paradise we started talking about dessert. Khabeer said to me “I found this press that makes pressed gelato paninis, so its warm on the outside and cold in the inside. I think it would be a great addition to the menu as a dessert option.”
Before he could finish- I asked him when this was coming and that I needed to try this and tell everyone! So I am ready to enjoy a great panini sandwich and some gelato panini’s with all of my Sandwich Lovers in Central Florida! Here are a few of the gelato panini’s Hot Krust will be offering: PB&J-Peanut Butter, Strawberry Jam and Vanilla Gelato and S’mores-Graham Crackers with Chocolate Gelato and Marshmallow fluff; Rocky Road– Marshmallow Fluff, Cookies, Chocolate Gelato and Nutella and the HK Cookie Monster.
I hope you will come out Thursday, August 31st from 6-8pm to our 37th #SandwichEatUp at Hot Krust!

What’s a #SandwichEatUp?
If you have not attended one of the many Deli Fresh Threads #SandwichEatUp events you may be wondering what is a #SandwichEatUp? Well it’s a monthly sandwich meet up where anyone that enjoys a good sandwich can meet and try a new place along with others. Each month, I try to pick a sandwich shop that is not a chain, that I enjoy in the Central Florida area and we all meet up and help support another small business that makes great sandwiches. I usually do them after work on a weeknight (usually a slow night for a business and it makes easier to accommodate all of us).
I hope you can come out and enjoy a sandwich with us.
If you check out DeliFreshThreads and are interested in buying something from my site use the code: SHOPLOCAL and get free shipping and I can hand deliver your order to you at the #SandwichEatUp!
Anyone can attend a #SandwichEatUps- you just have to enjoy sandwiches and meeting new people.
