Laughter is the best medicine right? Most of what I watch on TV are comedies or something sports or food related..,..and throw in some superheroes too.
I have been a fan of Aziz Ansari since 2007, along with Paul Scheer, Rob Huebel on an MTV sketch show called Human Giant. The show was on for 2 seasons and it was some funny stuff. I was bummed when the show ended but I became very excited to see that Aziz was casted to be on a new show from the producers of The Office. The new show happened to be Parks and Recreation.
This became one of my favorite shows. Who knew a show about the Parks and Rec department in Pawney, Indiana would be so awesome. Granted, the show had some amazing actors and writers on it- The cast was a comedy All Star list (Amy Poehler, Chris Pratt, Nick Offerman just to name a few)!! Yet Tom Haverford (Aziz Ansari) always found a way to steal the show. He started the Treat Yo Self trend and the idea of Rent-A-Swag
The show was on from 2009 to 2015 and can still be viewed thanks to syndication. I am bummed that the show is over but I am happy tonstill see Aziz doing comedy specials.
Not only is Aziz a funny actor/comedian but he is also a “Foodie”. He is obsessed with food. He likes food so much I saw that he and his friends Eric Wareheim and Jason Woliner formed a foodie club, called “The Food Club”. They dress up in suits and captain hats and award places they find plaque worthy. The plaques have their faces engraved along with the words:
“The Food Club has dined here and deemed it plaque-worthy.”
Here is a video about the Food Club filming them debating whether or not restaurants were plaque-worthy
I’m enjoying seeing the rise to stardom for Aziz and he now has a new title to add to his bio- Author. Aziz has his 1st book coming out. He co-wrote it with sociologist Eric Klinenberg. The book is called – Modern Romance: An Investigation. The book is about the comedic pitfalls of dating in the modern world.
His book is scheduled to be released on June 16, 2015. If interested you can pre-order the book directly from his site or on Amazon
Not much of a reader? Watch his Promo video.
If you like it but don’t have the time to read it you can always buy the Audio book and just have Aziz read it to you.
Keep eating and enjoying Sandwiches Aziz!
Aziz has a new tv series coming out in November called Master Of None on Netflix. If you have Netflix, go check it out- I laughed every time I see the preview trailer. Here is what Netflix says about Master of None: Meet Dev (Aziz Ansari), a 30-year-old actor in New York who has trouble deciding what he wants to eat, much less the pathway for the rest of his life.
